Collector Updates
Warning: If the Collector becomes too out-of-date SIFF will block access. This is due to the collector no longer being compatible with the SIFF platform.
Use the Admin app to view the set of known Collectors and their current status.
- Collectors that are online with a red version are not current but still compatible and allowed to connect.
- Collectors in error with a Detail of Collector must be updated are not permitted to connect as they are no longer compatible.
In both cases it is recommended to update the collector.
Linux collectors will automatically update if outbound access to SIFF is permitted as covered in System Requirements (see SIFF auto-updates)
If the system package manager is configured to automatically update packages, and outbound access is permitted as mentioned above, then this will also update the Collector on a regular basis.
For restricted systems that do not have appropriate outbound access then updates will have to be done manually, see below.
Forcing an update
-
Systems with outbound access:
- via the UI: use the Admin app, select the collector, and select the Check for Updates button.
- via the command line using the system package manager:
- for yum (rpm):
sudo yum update siff-collector
- for apt (deb):
- update package list:
sudo apt update
- update collector:
sudo apt install --only-upgrade siff-collector
- update package list:
- for yum (rpm):
